Frank, er... that's not what I have in mind. I meant to put on those lens shields to protect the lights when they are up. |

Yes, that's the bahavior in my experience on a 308. (Recently changed out my headlamps.) Adjusting them manually, the motors will still activate when the housing reaches a certain angle. You need to pull the fuse and/or disconnect the battery. For what it's worth, I think the owner's manual or workshop manual actually mentions this in the changing headlamps procedure...

But you'll still need to disconnect the battery if using the "manual" knob; otherwise it might get dangerous (i.e., if the battery is not disconnected, the headlight housing may automatically lower when you reach the full "up" position when using the manual knob). |

Won't that look odd to have the headlights up all the time ? If you want to copy the 512M look then you will have to remove the headlights and buckets themself and fabricate from there. |

I think you should also be able to manually move them up |

On a 308, there is a fuse for the headlamp lifter motors. Turn the lights on, and pull the fuse for the motors(assuming a 512 has the same thing). Then turn the lights off at the controls stalk. That should get you where you need.

Simple, turn on the headlights and disconnect the battery while they are popped up. |

I would like to stick some light covers on the headlights of my 512TR. How can I make the headlight pop up and stay up without having the lights shining? |
