Same here, Lloyd. My 94 512TR tach reads just over 1000 at idle and hits the rev limiter reading 6600. My speeds match the rev limiter limits exactly. Maybe the sensor needs to be cleaned?

I have a 94 512TR and the tach consistently reads a lower RPM than actual. How I determined it was the tack was to note the speed in each gear when the rev limiter kicked in. When I did this I found that the speeds matched almost exactly with the highest speed noted for each gear as stated in the following road test in the June 1992 issue of Road and Track.

Today at about 6700 rpms in all gears but 5th my rev limiter kicked in.I usually do hit her at 7200 or so rpms in 2nd and 3rd.Could my tack be a miss? The only change I made was to try 100 octane unleaded fuel again, last time I tried 100 octane it made 0 gains or problems over 93 octane.Has anyone had this problem?
