Problem solved, kind of...........
I disassembled, and disassembled. I removed the dash to get a good look at the box containing the fan and dryer. It must ALL come out! I gave it ONE MORE TRY as test to make sure the fan was bad. I rigged up a line directly from the battery, (with a fuse of course), to the fan hot. I found a good ground. WALA! the fan spun fine. the culprit, DIRTY PLUG! I cleaned all plugs and reassmbled. The fan works fine, air blows cold. However, now when the ac is running, the idle drops too low and the car is subject to stalling. I know there is a circuit that increases idle speed with the ac running, but I guess I've missed this connection when reassembling!
Does anyone know which plug it is? I've now removed the trunk lining again and reinspected all connections, but can't seem to find it.
Anyone?

Jeff / Bob -

Please do post your results...From a previous search I thought someone posted that it is a non-servicable item...ie get a new one.

Mine's fine but I'm thinking down the road..
Thanks

Jeff,

I have a problem with mine also and have been intending to open it up for a couple years. Looks like a bigger job than it probably is, but if I decide to do it anytime soon, I'll post some photos.

Mine was making squealing noises from the motor and I made a temporary repair by providing a ball bearing support for the free end of the squirrelcage blower. This worked fine for a while, but the noise has started again and I'm about ready to open it up and put new bushings in the motor.

Has anybody removed one of these? I've decided mine is tired. I may rebuild it, or get a new one. First, I've got to get it out of there. I've had a look but before I dig in, does anyone have any tips?
Thanks in advance.........
