The pressure plate looks like of the old type, but it will work. I helped James H install that on his Eruo 308QV a few months ago. The old one came out of his car did not have the small plate at the center of the fingers. The new one we put in has the small plate like yours. After installation, he drove it and immediately commented on how much stiffer it was than before. |

Ok lets look at the clutch P.plates--the one pictured on the motor is on my 85 3084v, the one by it self if from my 330gt. Look the same to me--only difference is the 308 has 31h on it and the 330gt has 27h on the "fingers" I am hoping that this is the correct Pplate for my 308 4v--also have included a pic of the bearings just to show what it looks like |

There is no clip (actually spring) on it because the later 308GTSi and certainly the 308QV and 328GTSi have the updated clutch actuation circuit (for easier clutch effort). With the new and improved circuit, the TO bearing is always pushed in contact with the pressure plate and therefore does not need the spring to keep it away from the bell house. Hence, it goes away. This circuit also requires a pressure plate with the spring fingers not enclosed by a small round plate at the center. That PP belongs to the older cars, like GT4, and early 308. |

The only other place I can think of in the documentation where you might get another indirect confirmation of the internal details is if there's a longitudinal cross-section of the clutch in the relevant WSM. Has no one here done a 308QV clutch-ectomy to confirm? |

I looked it up there and there are no clips shown--however the diagram for the 80 gtsi (usa)car I believe in wrong--my parts book on my 80 shows a diagram similar to the one they show for the pre-80 cars Just seems odd that the bearing in not "captured" somehow to the forks |

Are you unable to access the FerrariUK SPCs yourself (via the Owner's Site)? -- but no "clip" shown in any of the 3 308QV SPCs there. |

I noticed that on the 308gts/b and 308gtsi/bi cars that the throw-out bearing has a slot on it and a wire clip to keep it hooked to the clutch lever arms but the 4v model does not have a wire clip or even a slot for it. Anyone have the 4v parts book to see if there is supposed to be a clip on the 4v models? or is it just supposed to float there? |
