Ok..Found the prob, and a big one it was. The right front lower mounting bolt for the caliper was GONE, not loose, but GONE. The caliper was in the right place when I took the wheel of yesterday and did not move so the bolt prob was just hanging and then fell off on the test drive last night. These were checked a year ago, so checked all of the others and were tight. Check them guy's just to make sure...put it on the yearly spring checklist. These do not use loctite, they have a locking washer. Thanks Henryk...glad it was not the bearing....BTW the smell was caliper sliding back and scraping the inside of the wheel. |

Adam: Raise the wheel off the ground, and check for slop by moving the wheel from the 3-9 o'clock positions, back and forth. Then try the 12-6 o'clock positions. Any slop, then it is either a bad, or loose, bearing. Can the clunk be coming from a suspension bushing that is worn? Good luck. Tell us of the outcome. |

I hear what sounds to be the brakes grinding when applied, yet I pulled both front wheels off and the pads are new and rotors look good. I also feel and hear a clunk on occation when stopping. Everything seams tight and I spun the wheels when I had it on the jack with no prob. I did smell a little burning smell (not pad type smell) from the front rt wheel. How can I check, and if it is bad is it a easy fix / rebuild? |
