Get the new tires first.Big diff. I fixed a slight alinement problem before simply by rotating front tires due to wear on edges. Good luck finding shop. Cant seem to find good one here. If u can watch him do it and confirm the settings. |

The official settings are on page 82 of the users and maintenance book which you can download from the ferrari owners club site. Its a PDF file. I tried to copy the page for you but it won't let me. There's a lot of other useful stuff in there as well. good luck

I was looking at the alignment specs for my 308 and noticed that there are different numbers for the 14" Michelin XWX, Metric Michelin, and 16" wheels found on the QV . Which of these numbers should I use or are they are same and all I am reading are the differences that measuring off of larger rims make? |

I have also always been told that an alignment should be done after installing new tires. |

I recommend getting the car aligned after putting the new wheel/tires on the car. If the new tires change the rolling radius front or rear, this will interact with the caster setting. If you align with old tires on the car, and the old tires did not wear PERFECTLY evenly than you will misalign the car while trying to align it. In addition, set the air pressure in the tires at HOT pressure while the car is being aligned. To find the hot pressure, set the tire pressure (factory/where you want them) and go out for a drive. Immediately after the drive, jump out and measure tire pressures. Use these while on the alignment rack, and reset to cold pressures before hitting the road. |

Tazio, i'd HIGHLY recommend getting the new rims/tires mounted/balanced and immediately after having the alignment done. Enjoy the Drive, Steven R. Rochlin

Search the archives, everything you want is either there, or there are pointers to it. |

Well the 308 is finally on the road and it is time for a wheel alignment. Is there anything special I should know when taking it to the aligment shop? Should the tires be new (I'll be changing them soon) or is it OK to get your settings off of the worn rubber that is there now? Chances are the alignment shop will not have the Ferrari specs so what are they? Lastly, should I look at changing the specs a little to improve performance? I would like to keep the car comfortable with good tire wear charactaristics so is stock best or has someone out there found the magic numbers that may allow me to eat my cake too? BTW the car is a 1977 308 GTB with 14" tires. I will be changing to 16" wheels very soon and I am not sure if the settings are at all different. Thanks in advance. |
