Speedo sender is on sale at our sponsor Sodacoms. Go to their site and check the sale items...at the bottom of the page. Not sure if it will also fit the 348 though...I would imagine it is different. |

My 84 Euro 308 has the exact same problem. Do they use the same sending unit and is it hard to replace.
When it was in Lake Forrest Sports Car for service several years ago, I told the service writer of the problem with the speedometer. They took out the speedo and sent it away to be tested and it came back with no problem found. You would think a dealership would have known to check the sending unit. GRRRRRRRR Paid to have the speedo removed and tested and still have the same problem. I HATE LAKE FORREST SPORTCARS!!!!!!! |

Time for a new unit. Ferrari's seem to need to have these replaced often.

If your 348 uses the 116987 speed sensor I think you could try replacing it without regret (had similar symptoms on my TR solved by a fresh 116987). I'd guess that one of the leads at the speedo sensor should be +12V (but let me check that later) and the other output line would be some sort of pulsed signal (but being an "intermittent" problem it won't make a clear direct diagnosis easy). |

My speedo has always worked fine....lately, it's an intermittant problem, the speedo does not work at all.....I can be in the middle of a drive, shows 80mph then drops to 0 and stays there.......another day, stays at 0 all day, another day works for 10 minutes....doesn't for 20....works for five....etc.
I've searched the archives and I think it's probably a speedo sender....does this sound right?
its a 93 348 (electronic speedo?) is there a way to test anything on this?
