The fault is in the logic of the valeo control system, as you say possibly an overide switch or something.

As I look at the title of your post, I guess you are asking if their is a switch that disengages the clutch or some other mechanism that might be causing the car not to turn over - having checked all the usual suspects - battery/battery connection etc.

(Assuming that you've already verified +12V is present at the main "+" line to the starter solenoid) What do you mean by "switch works":

1. The start command line at the starter solenoid goes +12V with the key in the "start" position, or

2. You measured something/somewhere further upstream to confirm that moving the key to the "start" position caused that location to go +12V, or

3. the switch at the back of the solenoid is OK?

Does "will not crank" mean:

nothing (no solenoid click, no starter motor spin), or

solenoid clicks, but no stater motor spin?

A 3.4 MondialeT will not crank, has sat for a while. Starter and solenooid are fine, switch works, what's the missing link? relay? safety switch?
Thanks for help. Brian
