Every couple years I have to replace the slider on the zipper of the trunk cover, so this trim piece has to come out. I'd advise against using a sealant on it for this reason alone. What part number from JC Ripoff....errrr...JC Whitney did you use? Mine is getting a bit tattered. I bought FIAMM horn compressors from JC Whitney and they are identical and $19.95 including horns and hoses (which I didn't need). For the most part, I have nothing bad to say about JC Whitney. :-) -matt |

Matt...I pulled the old piece off and used a rubber mallet and tapped the new rubber down a few inches at a time, working back to the center where I started. I finished with a fine blade in my saber saw to cut the excess material. Bingo! It looks like a pro did it! Thanks for your help. |

I just did mine with material from Whitney. No adhesive etc needed. snapped into place. Looks closer to original than that in pic. |

Peter, I don't think it is necessary. I would force it open by pushing down on the trim onto the frame. That sould be enough to hold it. Matt |

Peter, I took a pic of mine. You need to "open the mouth" and then close it on the trunk frame. Matt

Peter, Is that the correct trim? It does not look right. Trunk, do you mean engine trunk with zipper area or the spare tire area? Matt |

I will be replacing the rubber trim around my 308 trunk. My thinking is that after taking the old trim out, I would lay a bead of silicone on both sides of the vertical metal wall and push the new trim in place. The new piece does not look very 'user friendly' with the metal that is imbedded in it (see picture)! Any tips? |
