I also agree that the Tubi has a racier (and arguably beter, which is subjective) sound compared to Ansa Challenge systems, especially for the 360.

Manu,

No problem! I was just asking since Ton wanted to tease me by saying he got flames with his "Tubi-like" exhaust when we met at Spa last time...

Hmmm... A good way (actually it's bad) is to overfuel the car (perhaps by remapping the ECU - something which is no good unless a 'proper' company is doing it).

The straighter the system the more chance there is of this happening... Pipe-only exhaust???? :-)

Thinking about it Jens, you may well be getting tiny flames on full throttle upshifts at the redline.... it's just unless you have someone following you to tell you then, as the driver, you'll never know!

Manu,

Looking forward to your mail and the drink!
Are you with Darren from PH at the Nürburgring late may or business?
One last question:
Seems a bit childish but why do I dont get flames out of the exhaust? Do I even need a straighter system? (:-))

P.S. I agree with you about TUBI+test pipes although I was sceptical before installation! It has a f*cking good sound now...(=Very good investment!)

Jens - how are you my friend....?

The Challenge exhaust has NOT been designed with 'aural' requirements in mind.
Whereas a proper sport exhaust (like Tubi) is designed to deliver a fantastic noise (this is the number 1 prority) with a power increase, the challenge system is designed purely to give the engine a *particular* backpressure requirement.... the resultant noise does not even enter the equation... just power/competition race use.... that's why their soo much cheaper - most of the time, they're just a set of pipes with a few resonators... no proper silencing/baffling...

If it sounds good, then you're nothing but lucky... on the F355/360, IMO the challenge sounds terrible - coarse, rough with not enough of that hollow howl... People say it sounds OK on the 348 but as you will know on your own 348, Tubi + Test Pipes is on V8 Ferraris is VERY VERY difficult to improve on. :-) :-)

Edited to say - I'm going to Germany in the next few weeks. You must let me buy you a drink - We can also discuss the F-chat meeting!!!! I'll make contact offline!!! Take care mate!

Manu,

Why that? Sound should be good! Some challenge 348 owners even denied vibrations at certain revs!
BTW: Quite cheap if you can get them used!

Do NOT put the challenge system on.... it's horrible... esp compared to Tubi! Applies to all of them, 348/355/360...

DJ, I think that straight pipes are fairly common. If the cats come off, will the car pass emission inspections if you have them where you live?

Yes, no doubt the tubi makes the 360 sound more alive but I was curious if anyone has put the challenge exhaust on. Is it normal for people to put straight pipes along w/ a tubi?

I have a Tubi with straight pipes. Does that help?I was parked next to a 360 Challenge car last weekend at a track event and thought that mine sounded better.
