Yes. I think the bottom bolt is rusted in place and will have to remove the whole thing (bracket) from the block. Thanks guys, Scott

Scott, did u loosen the long bottom bolt?

If u did and it still won't move u will have to remove the alt. bracket that's bolted to the block because the bottom alt. bolt goes in from the back side of the alt. unless you want to remove the dipstick housing to remove the bolt from the alt.

You can take the lowest bolt completely off, there's a nut on the end you can't see. Slide it out and it'll swing on the upper bolt.

I have an 80 GTSi and my aternator is frozen in place. I cant move it to adjust tenision on the belt in or out. It doesn't seem to want to rotate on it's pivot bolt (the one closest to the engine block.) The bracket from the cam belt cover to the alternator is off... are there any bolts on the back side I cant see? The front pivot bolt is kind of rusty so I'll work on that but just wanted to see if there is something I'm missing in the back or bottom but I don't think so.
