Just a non-mechanical idea - My car did the same thing. I found the 4 step process noted earlier and followed step by step - Can't remember what error code I diagnosed. However, I read somewhere about how temperamental these systems are especially if the Battery is a little low. After I charged the battery ( trickle ) and re-set the system by using the master cut off to clear everything. I then started and let idle for 15 minutes to re-set all the electronics. Everything cleared up - I know use a battery tender and have not had anymore problems. Worth a try. |

You might need to pull the cover in the front trunk (right rear corner) by the recirc flap/fan opening and check the 30A fuse...it's very common these fuses melt but do not blow, and eventually cause the blackout of the controller. If the fuse & holder are melted, in many cases it's preferable to upgrade the fuse with a special mod to prevent future problems that can lead to a popped control panel. |

Jim, This unit is somewhat of a pain in the ass! Sometimes I think that it doesnt work on almost any 348. Mine was faulty as well and went ballistic once in a while, too! My tip: Open the unit and solder over all connections. At my unit some were already broken due to the VERY bad build quality. The soldering can be done in around one hour. I have let it done by an electrician whom I know. Spend him a beer for that. Afterwards everything worked fine again! Con saluti cordialissimi, Jens Haller |

Jim, Look ing the service manual on this. The unit has it's own OBD. It's a four step process in which you press different buttons and check for different faults. I'd also check every plug I could find. I cleaned mine with a gentle brush on a dremel. Solved my problem. Let us know what you find. J |

Hi Group, Having issue with the air/heater/fan electronics unit in my 348 (unit below the oil temp & fuel gauge, a lot of buttons). It was working, kind of, then the fan controller started going ballistic (indicator bar started going back and forth); all the lights for the controls flashed now nothing functions. I looked in the research area, nothing. I did not see a relay in the manual? I pulled the unit out, cleaned the connections and plugged it back in, nothing. Any ideas or it's toast and replace it? Thanks in advance, Jim Hilton
