Thanks guys. The answer to Peter's question, I wish I can do it but I am in US and there is no simple ways to import the whole car. Lancia Thema was never been intended for US market so it will not comply the US crash standard and emission so there is no way. |

If you end up playing with cams, be aware that they turn 'backwards' because of the gear-then-belt drive. This can mess with people's heads when fussing with timing, etc. |

1) Well, the motors used in the 308's turn clockwise when you face the front pulley. I expect the same of the Lancia version. 2) I doubt it, they may have spread the measurement between crank-throws to allow an increase in space between pistons (for wider bores of the 348). 3) Speak to Matt "Kermit" Morgan who posts here occasionally. He's experimented with larger bores (83mm+). In addition to a crank swap, you'll need to change cams as well (since the timing of the crank is different between a flat, 180° one and a 90° one.) I've got one question to ask though: Why bother putting it into an Alfa 164? Put it back into the Thema! |

Hi, I am not a Ferrari owner yet but do have a Ferrari V8 in my possesion. Well, almost. I have an engine out of a Lancia Thema 8.32 that is based on 308 engine and built by Ferrari. It has been modified by Lancia to fit on front of the FWD sedan. They replaced the Ferrari flat crank with conventional 90 degree crank and changed the firing order. Other than that it's very similar to 308 engine. I am planing to stroke and bore this motor and possibly modify it back to the flat crank system and drop it into a Alfa Romeo 164 sedan which is a sister car of Lancia Thema. I have few questions about Ferrari V8 in general. 1)Is Ferrari V8 counter clockwise engine when facing the front crank pully? 2)Will it be possible to retrofit 348 crankshaft into a 308 block? 3)Anyone tried to bore out the 308 engine? Custom liners and forged oversized pitons? How about a 348 piston and liner assembly? Can the block be machined to accept these larger liners? If any of you know the answer for above question please let me know. Thanks. tj
