Oliver, I just had the reverse problem on my mondial t; I could get hot but no A/C, even though the compressor was working fine. My problem was on the temp themostat; The wire underneath the shrink tubing which attaches to the switch had broken and you couldn't see it. Through much tracing with a voltmeter I tracked it down to that. Re-soldered wire and all is well. That thermostat calls for a/c or heat via two wires with a centre power wire (grey w/red stripe). The switch with the A/C,A/E and defrost only seems to control the vacuum leads to change the vents. I know this is a very simplistic description and there will be people here with superior knowledge to assist you, but that was the source of my problem and it is solved. The top of the tunnel is very easy to remove; 1) remove 2 screws from the small storage compartment on the console. 2) remove the ashtray insert and remove the 2 screws below that. 3) remove the shift knob and shifter gate plate. 4) gentley lift the rear portion with the console storage compartment (see #1 above) and lift it high enough to release the spring tabs on the underside. When they have let go continue to lift higher and gently pull forward to slide it out from the rear seats. Unplug the rear window connectors. You can now lift the next forward section with the thermo switch enough to inspect or work on any necessary problems. All the green wires are ground wires for the switches. I find that sometimes these let go from vibration and just put them back on to any clips that are unoccupied. Hope this gives you some help. I would be happy to answer any of your questions, however I am leaving on a road trip with another ferrari (348 spider) for 2 weeks in the morning and won't be checking my email for that time. If you wish to leave me an email please feel free and I will make a point of answering it when I return. Good luck Zac [email protected] |

Everytime I switch from cool to hot on the temp thermostat all I get is tepid air. The A/C works fine, but the heater does not seem to come on any longer. I used to hear what sounded like a valve opening/closing when switching to heat, but no more. Any thoughts? Also where would the problem be located and accessed? |
