Well, judging from the response that everyone has given me. I will assume that RMP drop is normal. Thanks for the information and imput,as usual!! |

You're talking about leaving the selector in neutral? What's happening is with the clutch engaged (pedal out) you add the rotational mass of the clutch disc and transmission main shaft, gears, etc. to the rotating mass of the engine. So, slight drop in revs is normal. Now, if you're talking about how the clutch engages with the selector in first gear, maybe you are in need of adjustment if it feels like it engages too quick or close to the floor. ?? |

The clutch adjustment procedure is in the WSM. Pay close attention to this as you do it. There's more to it than just tightening or loosening the cable. |

Front part of the car. On my car, the cable rest just below the pully wheel.
Back part, The cable adjustment screw sits on the frame.

It's possible. Reach under the car on the driverside and check the slack on the cable. If it is tight, Adjust it. There should be slack on the cable. If it's too tight, you will burn up the clutch in no time. I can post pic's if needed. Matt |

For what it's worth, I have a similar experience with my 78 308. It's only a slight drop in RPM. It happens when I start the car when it's cold, and other times as well, of course. Put it in neutral, clutch in--start the car--keep the revs up to 2500 or 3000 or so, clutch still in, revs holding steady. Then I'll let the clutch out. The tone of the engine will change, and the RPMs will drop slightly. I was kind of thinking this was normal behavior...

I think I need a clutch adjustment. When I have my car in neural and let out the clutch the RPM's drop. Is this normal or should I adjust it. I have not seen, nor was I looking for it, on my other cars I've had. Is this normal or should I adjust. |
