Steve, thanks for the good input as usual. I have a WSM so I can sort out the schematic. Actually I had not thought about testing the pinouts at the ECU. Don't trouble yourself at this point. If I run into a snag, I'll get back to you. |

Brad -- The two pin connectors are just a +12V wire and a ground wire to run the built-in heater in each O2 sensor so it doesn't matter who is connected to who for them. The single spade connectors are the actual O2 output signals so these are the ones that you need to be concerned with; however, I noted that the TR WSM description about which is the one with the black band did not match my TR so the safest thing to do is to measure the resistance from the single spade connector to the injection ECU connectors (and from the injection ECU connectors to the injection units) to confirm that the 1/6 O2 sensors is hooked up to the injection ECU running the 1/6 injection unit (and the same for the 7/12 side). I don't have my TR schematic stuff with me, but I'll post the information you'd need to confirm this PM (if you don't get it sorted out before then). |

Just replaced my old oxygen sensors in my '86 TR. The previous owner had cut the wire leads off the sensor(among other things) leaving only the sensor in the exhaust bung and the original leads tethered to the flywheel housing. In trying to reconnect the new leads I am not sure which sensor leads correlate to which bank of cylinders. Can anyone provide some input? The sensor connectors are unmarked and are interchangeable. The factory leads mounted on the car consist of two male spade connectors with a moulded shroud and two AMP female dual pin connectors, one is white, the other black. One of the male spade connectors have a black band in the moulded shroud. I assume the black AMP connector is a paired with the black banded spade connector. Assuming this is correct, do these connect to the left or right cylinder bank exhaust? |
