Agree with Steve M. here, to each their own, but regardless of how it came from the factory, the correct way is amber outboard, and red inboard. The 3% that were fooked up by a tipsy Mario after having too much vino with lunch does not make it any more "correct". Just a manufacturing anomaly. It's like the 328 series badges on the rear. Some were black, some were gold, and some had one gold and one black. But over 70-80% of them had them delivered all black. I had one of the weird black/gold combos so I replaced the gold one with a black one to shut people up at FCA gatherings... :-) |

I wish mine were amber in. It looks better IMHO I'd change it but that is how it came from the factory |

Mitchel, I've also seen a few 308s with the amber directionals inboard. The cars were never repainted. And I think it's in Geoff Willoughby's 308 328 Mondial book that a showroom floor 308 is pictured with the tail lights installed that way. Barry

John, my 308 is the same way. I heard from FNA that sometimes, the assemblers would do that unknowingly and leave them like that. I have seen several in older Ferrari books like ours. My car has never had paint work, and has not been crashed so I know it was not done my some bumbling idiot at a body shop. Its part of having a hand made car! You can see some nice shots of my car at my website: www.f1freaks.com register as a user and check em out! |

Ditto. Mine were in wrong too, when purchased. Factory photos and Owner's Manual shows amber outboard. I say, "Blame the painters." Change 'em back, but be careful with the old phenolic, or you'll need new ones!!! |

Usually when a car is repainted, the lights get swapped arouond. Any model Ferrari with the round lights has the amber lights outboard. |

they put them in wrong. The directionals on all 308 brochures are on the outside, where they belong.

The more conventional way (matching the OM illustration/labeling) would be with the red brake lights inboard. But why worry about why? It's not a difficult swap for whichever way you prefer. |

The taillights on my 79 308 GTB seem to be installed opposite of most others Ive seen. The red brake and parking lights are on the outside with the orange directional and backup lights in the middle. You can kind of see it in the profile picture (sorry I don't have a better one yet). The car was painted in the 80s. Might they have put the taillights back in the wrong position or did the factory mix things up to keep us guessing? Everything works fine, it just looks abnormal. |
