It's also possible to successfully re-stitch them yourself. Use a beige colored button & carpet thread, and a glover's needle. Nice thing about leather is that the needle holes are quite visable & you can tell by feel when you're putting the needle into an existing hole. Only thing that's a bit tricky is to get the tension on the stitches right. It's easy to tell when they're too tight: The leather is bunched up by the stitches. Too loose isn't quite so easy. You have to stitch a couple of inches & then try to pull sideways on the seam. If it doesn't gape open you've got it right. Removing the seat covers just takes a pair of heavy side cutting pliers to cut the 'hog rings'. Just be careful (photos are handy) to note how the hog rings were fastened thru the cover. You can get new hog rings & special pliars for them from Eastwood. I hate the hog rings, so I just bought 1,000 nylon tiewraps from Home Depot. The seat back is pop-rivited on with aluminum pop rivits.

Not sure what you mean by the "tooth" pattern, perhaps the contrasting black vinyl strips? Anyway, yes I am quite certain that it can be restitched. I have had this done in other cars before. It is still not cheap, as the seat cover must be removed and such to make the repair, then reinstalled. You have to seriously consider the overall condition of the seats and decide if they are worth the effort or not. |

I wouldn't. Check this site out for seats: http://www.gahh.com/ Probably cheaper to replace the seats. Art |

In my 308 seats, the stitching as worn loose in the "tooth" pattern on the seats. Is it possible/feasible to re-stitch these areas by a competent leather repair shop, or does it ever look the same? |
