Bill, You got it...That's the paint/sealant I've use in the past. Just ordered a couple of cans from www.gesupply.com. The p/n is 78030500005...which comes in an "affordable" spray can. Thanks for your help. David |

OK guys, I think what we're looking for is Glyptol. It's a GE coating for transformers. Let me know if you find a good source for this stuff. http://zhome.com/rnt/3.1Cobb/3.1enginec.htm |

No, the product wasn't Imron...As I remember it, it was designed specifically for the spraying of electric motor armatures. I did a Dino transaxle case with this stuff...and it eliminated all case seepage...and had a nice slippery fininsh for the olio to slide off of. |

I am not sure if Imron is still produced. We used to use it in the body shop at the Chevy Dealer that I worked at but it was expensive and you had to use breathing precautions. I have not heard of it in years. Dupont made it. |

I believe the GE product is called Imron. Its a 2-component coating. Very tough stuff. I believe it comes in colors. I once worked for an auto restoration shop in Stratford, CT, where they would use this product, in black, on the frames of their high dollar, chassis off, restorations. |

I get mine at car shows or I think they have a web site. One word of caution, if you ever use this paint use rubber gloves because it will NOT come off your hands. |

A paint called POR-15 would probably do the same thing if needed. |

Through the years, I've done numerous Ferrari engine and transaxle rebuilds. To prevent/minimize oil seepage thru the somewhat porus castings, I used to spray on a coating I believe to be made by GE (electric motors enamel paint?). Not sure of the exact name, or where to find it, or a similar product anymore...just remember it was a reddish-orange color. Anyone have an idea of where to find such a product? David |
