If the car runs fine, then leave it alone till the 15,000 tune up. |

Steve, Just dug out the OM, the first valve adjustment they show is actually at 15,000 miles. I'm not trying to duck preventive maintenance; I don't want to have to go through a major again, but I always keep a skeptical eye open when a profit seeking business gives me advise. Just wanted everyones independant opinion before I open my wallet again. |

Doug -- Are you quoting the 348 OM with "the first valve adjustment on a new car is at 7,500 miles"? (I've noted the TRs call for a retightening at 1,500 miles). |

I just had the heads redone on a 348, long story bad experience. Authorized dealer instructed me to run the car for 1,500 miles +/- and bring back in for a valve adjustment. Two questions; is this really needed, seeing how the first valve adjustment on a new car is at 7,500 miles. Second; what would be a ballpark figure for this service so I can budget. The car has 11,800 miles on it and runs great. Thanks. |
