Stephen, I had my clock face done at Bill's. They did a cleaning and replaced the winding stem while they were at it. A bit pricey, maybe, but I am very happy with the work they did. I don't think you would be disappointed in the results. While they are a "clock shop" they specialize in car and aircraft clocks. They really seem to know what they're doing. |

I'll keep everyone posted on my progress. I agree about taking the bloody thing apart without breaking something - looks a wee bit tricky. |

Palo alto speedoeter or Lauderdale Speedometer could fix that for you. Do a "google" search for their web addresses. Take apart at your own risk. I looked at mine, and it looks rather tricky to do and not break something....requires bending some small looking tabs IIRC.

By the way, how does the lens come off of the clock? I have a smudge on the inside of the lens of mine ( '85 308 ). |

If when you say "clock shop" you are referring to a real clock shop, his price might reflect his unfamiliarity with an automobile instrument. Most clocks come apart more easily than the ones in cars. Why not contact a shop that rebuilds speedos and tachs, etc.? You can find some in Hemmings Motor News. Good luck. |

Now that my interior is almost finished just some loose ends to tie up. The clock lens has "yellowed" and is in need of replacement - clock works just fine. Bill's clock shop wants $75.00 to replace the lens - seems a wee bit much. Any ideas or alternatives? |
