Thanks Matt. Just to let you know, I recently moved from Lynchburg to Tallahassee. I was originally hoping to get in a summer drive to Fredricksburg! |

I believe Brian Keegan, now at Ferrari Parts Exchange, said they will have sets of 16" QV wheels available. You might check with him (tell him I suggested you contact him, please). His address is [email protected] |

Edward, I actually went out to Ebay last night. Any time in the past, I've been able to find at least one set of 16" wheels for the 308. Last week...2 sets. Last night...none. I've seen them selling on Ebay for ~$750 - $1000...occasionally, a little less. I'll keep watching Ebay. What makes this a little tougher is that I'm getting married in a few days and I know there will be an extra person to explain this to..."sweetheart, I REALLY NEED these wheels!...yes dear, we'll take that trip to the Keys this fall..." I do want to make sure they are the 308 wheels though...no BBS's. Thanks for all the input. |

Go on ebay, there are usually 16"s in auction all the time. And they will look factory. And, since they are back in production, they are cheeper then in times past. |

Got to agree with Ric here. Don't waste your money on Avons or TRX's. Put the money towards new wheels. If you are looking for 16's you might be able to find some BBS's pretty cheap, unfortunately, they are going to be the "mesh" design. Good luck. |

Greg, I broke down and got two 16"ers for the back of my 1985 Mondial. Then got some Yokohama AVS sports, ZR rated, what a differance. ( sticky, quiet) Now, I can't wait for the front 390's to wear out.

No interchangeability. There are only two options for tires. Avon and Michelin TRX. Both suck. The Avon's suck less than the TRX's, but they both suck compared to modern tires. The best $2K you will ever spend on that car would be to buy 16-inch rims, IMHO.

I have been able to find the 390's, I was hoping however that if my German registration listed both metric and standard, that the standard size they listed would fit the metric wheels I had. David, that's a good idea. Over the coming months as I approach the need to put new rubber on the F-car, I'll start looking. |

They look like a decent tire. I bought them & decided to not mount them until I put the car on the road for this summer. (No sense in having it set on brand new tires thru the winter.) Unfortunately I lost a cam timing bearing & won't have the car on the road for a while yet, so I can't give you more of an opinion. Apologeticly, |

Verell, What do you think of the CR28's? |

Greg, (You probably know this & are just looking to upgrade, but just in case.) You can still get 390s. I recently bought a set of AVON CR28s for my '82 Euro 308 GTS QV from Belle Tire in Ohio. Something just over $140/tire as I recall. BTW, Coker still supplies the Michelin design also, but they're quite pricey. |

You might check with some of the folks that have gone up to 17 and 18 inch rims to see if they might part with their old 16's...

Damn!! I was hoping that maybe..just maybe the "other" tires may fit. I really didn't want to have to look for 16" wheels. And yes, it sucks! |

No I don't believe that that is the case Greg. I think our cars came with either metric or the 14's (in my case) depending on how they were ordered from the factory. I pretty sure that you have to go with a metric rubber for the metric rim, it is not interchangable. Sucks doesn't it? |

I was looking at my paperwork that came with my 308QV from the German exporter. When it gets to the section on tires, it calls out the metric 390's, but also lists 205/55 VR16's for the front and 225/50 VR16's for the rear. This leads me to believe that for those of us still running with our 390's, we may have the option of going to standard tire sizes without swapping wheels. Would this be a correct assumption? |
