Thanks for the suggestion. I tried adjusting the idle with the large brass hex nut bolt. I turned it 3/4 of a turn clockwise and boom. My rpms dropped from about 1900 to 1000. It's running great now. My first Ferrari. |

Brad, The more likely cause is that your aux air valve is stuck open (cold idle device). You may need to replace it. Find the hose to it and pinch it off to see if the idle drops down (with engine warm). If the idle drops, you found the culprit. |

When you open the engine lid, look for the big black rubber snorkle thingy. Follow it down, and you will see a big brass nut on the left side. Turning it in lowers the idle, unscrewing it, raises it. But be careful with the adjustment, cause that seems unlikely to be caused by altitude...but then I am no mechanic either, so I could be completely wrong. |

My 328 arrived yesterday from Co. Springs. I am in Iowa at a much lower elevation. It seems to have a very high idle (around 1900). I had the floormat problem as well, but that does not account for all of it. Can anyone tell me how to lower the idle speed? I'm sure the elevation difference is the main culprit. It seems to idle fine at start up. Thanks, Brad

On my 328 I bought some simple adhesive Velcro from the local hardware store. One side is stuck to the rubber portion on the OEM carpet, the other is stuck to the back of the mat; no more sliding mats. Did this on my previous 308 too. |

LOL, Rob....yes, the FMCC option has made me paranoid....continually find myself fiddling with the floor mat at every stoplight, etc. The first time I experienced the "stuck throttle / high idle" it was due to the mat, and it gave me quite a thrilling ride for the first few miles! BTW, I'm using the Lloyd mats (over top the factory ones) and they are quite thick, and the cutouts around the floor console near the gas pedal are not that accurate so the mat is constantly sliding forward against the pedal. Michael, it sounds like your situation could involve a little more than just the floor mat though...keep us posted. |

My 328 has the little known factory option that most Ferraris got... FMCC or Floor Matt Cruise Control. |

You could be correct. My floor mats are pretty much crap and get all bunched up, especially near the pedals. I was just curious if there is some kind of exhaust temp sensor or oxygen sensor that might be sending messages to the "brain" that could cause this sort of behavior. |

check the floor mats (I'm not kidding). They frequently slide forward and hold the pedal down slightly. Check it out, both my 308 and 328 did this. This is posted on this list every three or four months.... |

My 328 occasionally maintains a fast idle speed (approx 2k rpm) after being driven hard or when the temps are high. The problem seems to be intermittent. Any ideas? Thanks |
