I want to thank everybody for the advices. I maybe buy a new one in Italy and that`s why I wanted the serial number.

Kari-My compresor just went out so I have done a litte research. The A/C compresor on the `92 Ferrari 348 is a Sankyo SD709. I don't have the Ferrari part number in front of me (I can get it if you need me to), but the dealerships want between $2,000-$2,800 for it. I have been advised that the same compresor is used on several Japanese cars, so if you call your local parts supplier and give them the brand and part number you should be able to get one relatively cheap.
Also, the one Craig mentioned that was on ebay has a starting price of $459 and I have seen the same seller offering the compresors for over a year at that price. I don't have any affiliation with the seller, however I think I will probably be purchasing one from him as well.

Hope this helps,
Chris

Kari...

If the 348 compressor is the same as early 308, which I would guess it is, I have a good used one I'd sell reasonably.

They said me at service that it is not dropping but leaking oil. I am afraid that I have to change it quite fast.

Kari,

Try and find a good A/C shop or mobile A/C engineer. If it were the seal that has gone - It costs about 10 - the rest would be getting the damn thing in and out! (& Recharging the system of course!)

Quite a bit cheaper that replacing the whole unit! :-)
