Jorge, call All State. They will insure the car for a stated value, with no restrictions on mileage, etc. I found out some insurance companies (like my current one) automatically classify a car that's 20 years old as a classic - therefore they will only insure it with classic car coverage - which is restrictive. |

I called all of the specialty ins companies and then called my current ins company ( New Jersey Mfg ) and as the only drive, and with a primary car I have full coverage on my TR for $1,000 with no restrictions, and my ML430 dropped by $200 a year. If you live in NJ they are the best. |

Just out of curiosity, how much does it cost to insure a new $170K-$250K Ferrari? I wonder how much it costs to insure the F50? The older ones (like mine) seem to be quite reasonable to insure, much less expensive than a new car BMW, Chevy, etc is. |

If I am correct, Leland West has all sorts of limits on how to drive the car (i.e. yearly mileage limits and also limits on the age of your other cars.) I looked for about 5 minutes and then called my insurance agent like I always do in the end anyway. I just put it under my master policy that has all my other crap in it. That's probably the cheapest and easiest way to go. Personally, I don't give hoot about the material value of the car it was the high levels of liability I was going for. The car is cheap compared to a stupid lawsuit. |

I'm looking for recomendations regarding insurance for my ferrari. I currently using Great American Insurance, but I'm shopping around for comparison for rates and more important reputation regarding claims and service. I had to call Great American for my policy renewal after it expired. Got a Quote from Leland West are they good ? Any recomendations ? |

Hagerty's was a real pain to try to work with - way too many restrictions and such. I would never recommend them. If you go to http://acordia.com/cgi-bin/mqinterconnect?link=Office_Locator you can find an Acordia office near you. |

I've got full coverage of my '78 308 through State Farm for about $600/year. In talking with my agent, he said I just needed a bill of sale or a price guide listing to settle the coverage value. He also mentioned owners of exotics tend to have better insurance records - probably a combination of not wanting to wreck the exotic and other drivers not wanting to hit you. |

My '80 308GTBi is insured with Leland West with stated value of 34500 and mileage limited to 5000/yr which is no problem for me. Cost is 620/yr. |

I use my 308 GTs qv as a daily driver, my insurance company is Cinncinati and I have placed "STATED VALUE" on it at $35,000, with all other limits at Max (300/100). Stated value means if it is totaled I get $35,000 no ?'s asked! Policy cost is $1400 a year and I drive as much and anywhere I want. I believe all insurance co's will do stated value just have to ask for it. |

Don, I just called Hagerty for the second time today. I was told that 2500 is what they desire - a little more if the car would be driven in club events, etc. I was told 5,000 miles would probably not be accepted. And driving the vehicle to and from work once a week would not be acceptable at all. There seems to be gray areas on what can be done with the vehicle. |

If you want to drive your car every day, call State Farm. Otherwise, I can recommend Acordia Insurance. Greg Ohner is a former president of the Pacific Region of the FCA, so he knows our cars. He has a program thru AIG that is competitive and versatile. He insures most older cars on an "agreed value" basis and is especially competitive on cars more than 20 years-old. He will require some sort of proof of value. Mileage is flexible, but you have to agree not to use it as your "daily driver" for the best deal. He prefers to cover just the physical damage, which is fine, as my regular insurance company was happy to insure the liability for next to nothing but didn't want the physical damage. It's hard to say what your exact premium will be before you buy the car, but it's generally a function of the value insured. I have positive results from 21st Century in California. I pay $573.00 every six months on my 1990 Testarossa for full coverage and I carry all the maximums for liability and property damage (I think), and there is no mileage limit. Besides them, Grundy, or Hagerty (cannot remember which now), quoted me $1800.00/yr (5K limit), and Progressive was $2200.00/yr with no mileage limit as well. I have a clean record, but there is certainly a huge variation from company to company if they are even willing to insure you at all. There have been other postings regarding insurance in the past. You might want to search for them. Good luck! Caribe. |

Hi. I am looking into insuring a '77-'79 308 that I will be purchasing sometime in the near future. I called Hagerty classic car insurance (thanks for the suggestion Magoo), but they were very limiting on how the vehicle could be used and 2500 miles was the annual mileage limit. I have a perfect driving record and even my insurance company (Geico) would not give me comprehensive coverage on the vehicle, only liability. What insurance company do you guys/girls use? What does an insurance company reference for book value of a Ferrari? Are fluctuations in the market reflected in your coverage? I'm kind of confused! |
