An interseting test is this (designed for aircraft) PC tachometer that is free from this site. It is very accurate, but for me it showed half the RPM at 2500 and twice the RPM at idle. There are some adjustments that can be made, and I would like to try it again when I get a laptop that will work on a battery.

Please if any of you tech oriented chatters get this software to work well I would appreciate if you would let me know what settings you used.
Enjoy,
Mark

Jeffrey,
This is indeed a very common problem with 3.2 tachs. I had my previous 328's tach dome at Palo Alto but it took 2 tries. I just had my current car's tach done at a place in Albuquerque. It was 119. plus shipping and now works perfectly. I don't have the number handy but can get it later.

Thanks David. I will follow that route and cross my fingers(hehehe). It's funny, if we all had these problems with any other car we would consider them badly made( and I know being a lotus owner) but with my Ferrari it just seems like part of the joy of ownership.

Jeffery,
I just went through this exercise. Mine never completely quit, but read low. This is apparently a very common problem with the 3.2 liter cars. Pull the tach and send it to a speedometer shop. I sent mine via Fed Ex to Palo Alto Speedometer and had it back on Friday. Works fine now. Helmut, the owner was very familiar with the problem with these tachs; something to do with the circuit boards on them. Cost $145 plus shipping each way.
Can't help with how to take apart the Mondial dash, but it is super easy on the 308/328 series.

I have heard this before but not sure about a fix. My 86 Mondial tach is intermittant and often reads lower than actual revs. At the moment it is DOA but if the mood strikes it might tell me accurate readings or be a few thousand low. GOD... I hate electrical gremlins... but love my Mondy.I have been able to solve all of the usual(sunroof, driving lights and lock system) problems but no clue with this one.
