Mike, I had a bit of trouble lining up that cursor line on the photograph. Here's another attempt:
It's right near the cam cover as pictured in your owner's manual. I'll take a picture of mine and post it later. Barry |

Barry: Nope, but thanks. I used an inspection mirror in the area you pointed to on yours, but didn't see anything there. Not important, just one of those trivia things I had been wondering about.

Mike, I was just wondering if you've found the engine serial number identification plate. It's on the engine block very close to the cam cover. Barry |

Mike, On my carburetted GTB, the engine data plate is visible on the engine block on the cam side. It's not very large and can easily be overlooked. I don't think you'll have to remove the airbox. Just get in there with a flashlight and look closely for it. Barry |

Thanks, I think I'll actually have to remove the air box to be able see that area, but at least now I know where it is! |

Mike -- I believe it's not a separate plate but rather a raised area near the water pump with some cast letters/numbers and some stamped letters/numbers -- the photo in this thread shows the area on Russ' 308GT4: http://www.ferrarichat.com/discus/messages/112/256028.html?1053969103 Do you have a "plain" boss there? |

Where is the engine type and identification plate as shown in the center inset below (from the owner's manual). I see where it says it should be from the large picture, but the inset picture seems to have a different orientation and I can't match it in my engine bay. In any case, I can NOT find the plate mentioned, and a friend with a euro 308QV which shows it in the same location, can't find it on his either. Can someone give me some guidance on where to look? Thanks in advance. |
