Charles, I noticed that you have the same last name as I do. Are you my rich lost relative?

It is my understanding that max rear tire size for rear of 308 is 225 since anything wider will rub on those fat Koni shocks.

Nick sells an aftermarket suspenision kit that includes 2.5" wide shocks which will allow you to go to 295(?) on rear.

Stu

I have just put new tires on my recently purchased 328. It still had its original tires! My wheels are the same size as yours. I went with 225/45's in front and 245/45 rear, Bridgestone S-03. I first tried 225/50's in front, but they were taller than the rears. The 225/45's are approximately 3/8's inch shorter than the rears, giving the car a slight forward rake. The tires don't rub and feel great so far.

The reason that you put wider tires on the rear of a mid-engine car is that: (1) they still have more weight on the rear wheels; and (2) if you have a lot of power from your motor, you need the extra width for traction.

BTW my 2 S-03's 225/50 with less than 100 miles are for sale $175 plus shipping.

I know there's been several conversations on tire sizes for the 308's, but I couldn't find anything that was specific to my issue and I could use some feedback....

I recently bought new 16" wheels and I'm about to purchase new tires as well. I've decided on the brand but have questions about the size.

Is it best to have the same width in front as in back (say 225/225) or is it better to have a wider tire in the back (say 205/225)? My thought was that since we're dealing with a mid-engine car, wouldn't you want all four tires to be the same, since the car is supposedly evenly balanced? Or is there a logical reason the rears should be larger? Also, thoughts about height (50 vs 55) on 16" wheels?

Thanks in advance. BTW...the wheels are 16X7" front and 16X8" rear.
