I started to rotate them, then, as Frank has stated.....they are of different sizes. While the tires are the same size, front and rear, the wheels are different....those in the rear are wider.

Oh well....will just wait till I need a new set of rear tires.

Hi...........

Boxers are known to "consume" rear tires very rapidly. Unfortunately, the front and rear tires are different sizes and you can not rotate the tires front to rear, only left to right. Make sure that the wheel alignment is correct at both ends of the car.

Good luck !!

Henryk,

If they are steel belted radials then rotate them only front to back.

If they are bias-ply, then you should rotate front drivers side to the rear passenger side and the front passenger side to the rear drivers side. Both rears go to the front on the same side.

If they are rotated on time every time (5K miles) and your alignment is correct they should all stay close in the amount of wear.

As far as the grease for the hubs, I use Loctite Cooper-based Anti-seize and it works great. You get great protection and torqueing the lug is more accurate. Make sure you torque them cold though.

While having my car on a lift, for an unrelated problem, I noticed that the rear tires are worn much more than the front ones.....the tires, front and rear, are the same (non uni-directional).....can anyone tell me what the proper rotaion should be? I am considering RR to LF, LR to RF, RF to RR, and LF to LR......same as recommended on my Toyota (sorry).

BTE lucky me!!!!!......the center spin offs came off easily, by pounding with just a hammer.....I have read of the horror stories related to this.

What kind of grease do I use to re-install the wheels?.....wheel bearing grease, or something else?......should the grease also cover the threads of the spinner?

I recently bought the car, and have not had a reason to remove the tires, till now.

Thanks.
