I have it figured out now. There IS a second full throttle position. It "opens the loop" on the lambda system - in other words it bypasses the O2 sensor for a richer fuel mixture. Between idle and full throttle it's in the "closed loop" mode and is functioning with the help of the O2 sensor. My O2 sensor is disconnected so the switch does nothing for my car.

I can't speak for the QV, but according to both the '87 and '89 wiring diagrams, the US market 328 does have a "wide" open throttle position as well as an idle position.

The WOT position is parallel to the oil temp sensor, so it doesn't function until the car warms up.

I don't think the Marelli uses it, but it is fed to the Bosch Lambda computer. It's not listed in 80-28 for the Marelli, but it is listed in Service Bulletin 80-29 for the K-Jet/Lambda test procedure.

I've never heard the TPS "click", though. I've been checking it with an ohmmeter.

Thanks, Mark. I was looking to find some untapped hp at full throttle. So much for wishful thinking.

Tommy:
For the 328, it only clicks-on near idle.
I have the test procedure and the only test is at just above idle.

I got it. I forgot to get back to you about it. Don't need it right now but when I do (when I put in the new clutch) I will check back to see if you still have it. Too many other expenditures going on now. Thanks

Off topic: Tommy, did you get my email about whether you're still looking for a flywheel to lighten? I now have my original, which has just been trued (taken down by 0.3mm) if you're interested. I decided to put a new one in when I did the clutch job a few weeks ago.

84 308:
This past weekend I noticed the TPS only "clicks" once and it is when the throttle is just barely pressed which is normal.

I do not get a "click" at full throttle.

My Scirocco's all have a two position TBS. One click just as the throttle is pressed and one when it's on the floor. The FI systems are nearly identical between these cars (CIS).

Is my TPS out of adjustment? Before I loosen it to adjust for the full throttle click, I want to know if it is supposed to have one. It is not a big deal but I would rather not fool with it if I don't have to.
