Vincent, The main purpose of the roll pin is to keep the base of the throwout bearing assembly from rotating which would misalign the two tensioning springs. it does also help with keeping the bearing in place during clutch change as a bonus. the pin in no way limits the travel during clutch operation. I would wonder why so much tension was placed on that rollpin, it should not have broken in that way during normal operation. possibly the bearing froze causing the assembly to "twist"? or maybe clutch travel is too far (badly worn out clutch disc). make sure you check everything before reassembly. Best regards, Jim |

That pin is to keep the bearing and slave from sliding off the shaft during clutch replacement. It does nothing else. Go to home depot and get the role pin |

Vincent, I think you are referring to a tried and trusted standard engineering location method utilising a sprung steel 'ROLL PIN' |

if you've been following along, I've discovered some clutch pressure plate issues with my 348 while searching for the elusive answer tothe hot start problem. The throwout bearing limiter pin is a folded over piece of flimsy metal. I can't believe it's this cheap. I'm sure I can drill it out and replace it easy enough, but COME ON!!! What is Ferrari trying to do here, save a milligram!!!! If I put a friggin toothpick in there will I feel the acceleration gain? Forget those CHIPS,K&N, and TUBI! I'm going to run out and get a tooth pick.
Just venting, accidently hit the clutch pedal getting out of the car. But still, COME ON!!! |
