It's a snap ring/keeper ring that's part of the rear most bearing oiler tube that resides in the transfer gears housing.

I am in the process of replacing the clutch on my 83 BBi.

I'm trying to figure out the purpose of a small part....a metal ring inserted in the end of the clutch shaft.....part # 109334(Anello di tenuta). This is seen in the BBi parts manual on Tav. 15 (#30). It is also seen in the BB manual.

The ring is not a complete circle, and can be turned around, by hand, in the shaft.

What is it's purpose?

Thanks.
