thanks guys. I'll try the crazy glue tomorrow. I want to car to be cool. Very hot here in florida. If it doesn't work, I'll go Verell's way at the end of the summer. The car is going to sit starting next week for a few months while I'm out of the country working. |

Robert, If you don't want to go the 'crazy glue' route, Unobtainium Supply Co. (aka me) can supply new buttons. $25 + shipping. I have a couple in stock. Priority Mail would get to you in 2-3 days. Send eMAIL requesting 1 w/ your shipping address to: [email protected] BTW, I checked with Jeff Greenfield (aka AlfaGuy) on the BMW part # for the complete switch ass'y: "The BMW part number for the complete switch is 61 31 363 459. I just checked and this is in fact the proper number for the QV mirror switch. There is a tab on the switch that sticks out that has to be cut off to make it work in the Ferrari. Ironically, this piece is has the part number molded into it," And for the knob: "The BMW part number for the knob is: 61 31 367 537 I believe that this is NLA from BMW last time I checked about a year ago." |

The shaft is fine. I just need the button. The spring is good too. Thinking of using crazy glue. |

SOME 308 QVs DEFINITELY USE A BMW SWITCH. The switch for my '82 Euro 308 GTS QV is also used on mid-1980s BMW 3-series sedans. It's the joystick type that mounts in the door's arm-rest. My switch was broken when I bought my car. I just double-checked, the only markings on my bad one are the BMW logo & the word 'Mira' in script beside of it. No part #. Bought my replacement from T.Rutlands. $135 if I remember correctly(wince). Since then I know of people who have bought switches from BMW. I have heard recently that BMW no longer has the part available. Did you break the switch mechanism, or just the knob. If the white nylon shaft coming out of the switch is intact, then you just need a knob. Unobtainium Supply now has a mold for making the knob. It's $25 + shipping. If you've broken the nylon shaft off, and a replacement switch isn't available, I would be willing to attempt to machine a replacement shaft & repair the switch.

This has been discussed before - the BMW switch does NOT fit the 308. I've tried, as have many others here. It's a F part - I don't have the number handy but I bought mine from Maranello Auto Parts. Robert - email me if you need the part number - I'll be happy to look it up when I get home. |

The Mondial uses a BMW part, the BMW logo and part # number are on the back of the switch. The 308 uses a different switch, I wonder if the BMW logo or part # are on the back?

Robert, no luck yet. I'm at work and will research tonight. I think it the part was from an older 7 series. John |

If your switch is the joystick type, I know that some Alfa's used the same ones. I think the GTV6 used it. Try Italian Auto Parts. |

Think I read somewhere that it is a BMW part. I'll look around and see if I can find the reference. John |

I broke the little plastic direction button. Any hints on where I can get one to replace it? |
