There are good people there. I met the owner, Tony, on the Colorado Grand last year. He and a co-driver were in a Boano that I did a little altitude tweeking on for the event. Pass on my greetings next time you see them, if you would. Glad to hear it worked.

HEY DAVE! Thanks so much. The dealer had not seen that before...and your diagnosis was right!

I am verrrry happy to not have a larger issue. They charged me $180 to fix it...but I have zero time to fiddle.

So funny...without this forum I could have had it turn into a big bummer. My sincerest thanks again.

Kevin, they are quite right on that as well. I found this problem when the cars were quite new (early 96), and still under warranty. Ferrari would have us go to great lengths to find the problem when the cars were still new. That way if there was a serious problem they could fix it while still early in the production run. Guess this was not on that list, as the second car I found it on was a 98. The damage was nothing more than a simple scuff from the throttle cable, and never required anything more than a little tape, and a wire tie. Good luck, Dave

Thanks Dave! I will forward this to the dealer wher it is for service.

Auto Gallery mentioned there can be a "break" not that it was caused by anything. And that the wiring loom would have to be replaced in that case. But I don't know why it could not be repaired instead.

In the center console, by your knees, the throttle cable is exposed (no outer sleeve). The cable cuts into the harness at this point. It shorts out the wires to the rear lights. Ran into this a couple of times a number of years ago.

Hey folks...

The dash lights, rear license plate, the upper portion of the center console pops the 7.5a fuse.

This happens as soon as you push down on the accelerator. I pulled the license plate bulbs and checked the wires...no crimps. But I can sit still, and as soon as I hit the gas at all it's gone. Any input??
