"What tricks have you come up with to clean the inside of your windshield? " Clean very lightly dampened cloth towel, add elbow grease! Thats it. I have never used more than this in the last 35 years. It helps a lot if you do this every week and drive around with the window up all the time. "I'm asking how do you clean the steeply raked windshield without either getting window cleaner on the dash or missing the last 3-5 inches of window by the dash?" For the last 3"-5", I put my had palm down and towel on top and press backwards with my fingers. "The converse comes into play when you want to treat the dash with something - it gets all over the windshield. " Start the wash by doing the leather, then wash and wax the outside, and by the time rolls around for the windows, the leather stuff is dry! and wipes away easy. |

Yep, Lemon Pledge works great for quick wipe-downs of the rubber bumpers also. |

A good product to use on the vinyl dash is Lemon Pledge. Yup, I'm not kidding, idea came from the FCA journal, and it works. Does not leave a sticky mess that attracts more dust and dirt, and the finish is not so shiny either. Works for me. Lemon Pledge is an old detailers secret. It was the product of choice to touch up spills/bird droppings on the car paint before "car specific" products came out. I still use it on my motorcyle to wipe down the seat and painted parts... |

The cloth and stick suggestion works good for me. But bear in mind that most dash treatment chemicals will end up on your windshield as a film because of evaporation. This means more windshield wiping, and the problems that come with it. Almost a vicious cycle. |

I'm sure that GTS cars have to be easier. In a GT4 for a taller person, it's damn near impossible. First of all, I can't lean forward AT ALL, as my head hits the roof. So anything that I do has to be from a fully reclined, seated position. Which means that I can't reach most of the windshield. What little I can reach can't be done at all with my palm, but rather with the back of my hand. I can do some of the windshield standing outside the car, but most of it gets totally neglected. |

Use a microfiber cloth, wrap it around a ruler and spray the cloth with cleaner and go at it. |

patrick spray the cloth, not the windshield or the dash and then reach as far as possible....you should be able to get it all and you won't have overspray |

Long arms help a lot. As to the space at the very bottom, I get there from the driver and passenger's side. Art |

Sorry, I forgot to add - I have a TR. The problem wasn't nearly as pronounced when I had my 308GTB, but it was an issue. |

Girot's Garage has a small, triangular shaped pad with a swivel handle that I use to get at the nooks and crannies at the base of the windshield. Standing outside the car with the top off and reaching into the windshield from the top works for the area around the instrument pod. John |

I would rather wipe windex off of my dashboard than try to clean a leather cleaner or conditioner off of the inside of my windshield. I just use a papaer towel and get down as far as possible. Its not usually a problem. |

Jamming a piece of card board cut to shape over the dash while spraying window cleaner is a good way to minimize fallout. Then pull the board and wipe. To clean the glass in front of the instrument pod I roll a towel lengthwise and feed one end across to the other and use a push pull motion. Even so, It is a bear to get it really clean. I find it is much easier with the top off of my GTS so I don't have to dislocate my shoulder. DJ |

Moronic question of the day! What tricks have you come up with to clean the inside of your windshield? I'm not asking what stuff do you spray on to get rid of the film - I'm asking how do you clean the steeply raked windshield without either getting window cleaner on the dash or missing the last 3-5 inches of window by the dash? My arm doesn't seem to want to bend the way it has to in order to wipe the area in front of the driver with the palm side of the hand (and an appropriate wiping towel of any sort). Maybe I'm just not equipped for backhanded wiping (but that's another story). The converse comes into play when you want to treat the dash with something - it gets all over the windshield. Any suggestions? |
