The compression seal should be adequate. Unfortunately, over the years it seems like one or the other of the seal surfaces gets dinged & simply tightening it up won't seal the leak. I gave mine a good coat of Locktite PST. PST is made for sealing things like pipe threads. It never fully sets up. I also thought of cutting a ring of thin gasket material to fit into the compression fit area. RTV should work as Charles describes below. |

no o-ring or gasket--it is a taper compression kinda seal--just tighten it good..--if you want, clean in thoroughly with acetone and apply some silicon glue before tightening |

While on the lift today, we noticed that I have an oil leak which appears to be coming from the oil dipstick guide. Where the dipstick mounts to the engine (right about the engine mount) is where the leak is. How do I go about fixing the leak? Do I need an o-ring or any gaskets? Thanks. Ken
