When you say 5/10's of a single thou, does that mean per side of the journal or total difference in diameters? That would make it a clearance of .00025 per side of the journal, am I understanding this correctly?

Yes, usually a little, like .0005" - .001". I am suspect of the TR wear limit spec. At nearly .005" I'd expect a knock. Probably a typo.

Are the clearances on rods usually any different than the clearances on mains?

From the shop manuals:
Daytona: .0025" - .0035"
Testarossa: new .0018" - .0019", wear limit .0047"

Wear limit on TR sounds awfully high, but that's what's published.

typical crank bearing clearances are 1/1000 of the journal diameter.

Do you know what is a typical clearance between a crank shaft journal and the bearing for a rod. I thought it was about .0007 per side but I am not sure, please comment if you know the approximate range. Thanks,
