Cool- thanks. That's what I did. Not a drop after test drive. Also- not a drop spilled from the Baldwin filter while removing it. I had it wrapped in towels for no reason. I replaced with a Baldwin (I figure the previous owner used them, quite a few use them here, so why not?) Thanks again guys. |

"Pretty tight--not too tight" seems to be right. Be sure to replace the copper squash ring when you reinstall the plug. I also wrap a short length of teflon tape around the threads just to be sure. |

Neither the service Workshop Manual nor the owners manual specify a torque for the drain plug. So your spedification of "pretty tight but not too tight" should be adequate! It's just like any other car in that respect. You want it sealed, but don't strip the threads.

Is there an official torque setting for the oil drain and gearbox drain plug- or just "pretty tight- but not too tight" 84 Euro QV is the car if it matters. |
