Here is a pic of the muffler prior to repair. This is the only photo they took. Seems that all the baffles (sp) were loose. They re-welded the baffles and removed (altogether) a secondary "pipe". The flow is REALLY unrestricted now and sounds much "beefier". I propably got another 5% BHP gain to boot!
The price of $2-300 to repair the muffler seems a little low though. After cutting welds, stripping the muffler, re-welding plus removal and re-install of system, it was closer to $6-700. Still, far better than trying to find a new or used repalcement!

Thanks Verell and C.C.
I called the shop today (car is still there) and asked them if they could take a crack at repairing the muffler. This shop specializes in vintage Ferrari repair/restoration and is accustomed to "making" parts. Seems a conventional muffler should be easy. This shop does amzing things, so I will endeavor to get photos if the oppotunity presents itself. Will keep the board posted.

I have an '82 Euro 308 GTS QV with the ANSA exhaust. No problems with mine, but I too really like it. Great sound & I understand (heresay, no firm date) that it flows much better than anything but a TUBI.

Good luck on getting yours repaired. If you get it repaired, It would be real nice if you could post some pictures of the interior & describe the repair procedure.

ANSA- is here in GA and they stock the EURO 308 muffler--I just got one and I LOVE IT-- but it can be repaired most of the time by a macine shop. repairs should run about 200.00 a new one 1000+.

Have a 79 308 GTB w/ 13,500 miles. Bought in September 2002 w/ 12,500 miles. Have driven it fairly hard since realizing all along that it was a garage queen prior to my purchase. The car has a catless Ansa Euro exhaust that is now making a rattling noise, especially when cold. My mechanic thinks it is inside the muffler and not a heat shield. Does Ansa have any kind of lifetime warranty? Is this something that can be repaired/welded? Or does this working-man enthusiast just need to start hunting down a used Euro/USA spec muffler/exhaust?
