If you are looking for a product to clean out the carbon deposits from the valves there are several products that are sold in motorcycle shops that do exactly what they say they will do. Kawasaki sells a product called carbon clean and Maxima lubricants sell one called PVC. I use the latter on my dirt bikes and jet ski 2 stroke engines to keep the power valves from gumming up due to the use of pure castor oil. i have used the Kawasaki product in my road vehicles with excelent results, less pinging and better fuel ecomomy. |

If you go searching both the FerrariChat and FerrariList archives, I believe you'll find that Chevron's TECHRON is widely preferred. I've certainly had it clear up 2 or 3 rough running problem incidents with my '83 Euro 308 QV, so I'm an advocate.

I like similar products from Lucas, available at most auto parts stores. |

I ran MMO in my ex-308 fuel/carbs with no noted problems (although lately I've been using the Chevron Techron periodically on my TR for the fuel system). Also use/used MMO at ~5% in the oil on both. |

I've heard some good things about it over the years and know some guys who use it regularly. I drive old carbed cars and tend to just buy Chevron and hope their claims about their techron additive aren't snake oil. Funny comment: When I bought my Fiat Dino and discovered one bad valve, I hoped I could "unstick" it by pouring some marvel's down the carbs and going for a drive. It didn't work (turned out valve was snapped, not stuck) but it sure made for one heck of a smoke screen behind me on highway 280 near San Francisco, as I burned it off, ha! |

Has anyone had experience with this product? My mechanic recommends it every 3-4 tankfuls to clean out deposits etc. I have a '79 308 GTB and he only works on cars w/ carbs. All advice welcome.
