Unfortunately Ed, the pump is made by an Italian company (SPEL). I sure wish it would have been as easy as you mentioned. The pump is slightly smaller than my fist, and is pretty accessible, so I may try to take it apart and see what makes it tick <pun>. |

Look at it very closely and see if it is made by AC Delco. If it is I would bet that one from a 1996 Chevrolet Impala SS is the same part. Jaguar uses the same thing and I get them from the Chevy Dealer all the time. It is a direct bolt in on the Jag. The Chevy pump is a lot cheaper too. |

It's an electric pump that resides in the right corner of the engine compartment, below the taillights. It only runs during the initial warm up of the car, for approximately 2-3 minutes. Mine is starting to get very noisy, and I fear it's death is imminent. |

Is it electric or belt driven? |

Does anyone have access to a used emissions air pump for a 98 F355, or better yet, know of a way to bypass the pump without alerting the OBDII so that the "check engine" light doesn't come on? |
