This is an easy one to do as far as bolt-on parts is concerned, and I'm surprised the hlins rep couldn't help you. A 308 is and eye-to-eye damper, a no-brainier for hlins. You just measure your dampers: centerline of the mounting eyes both fully extended, then lower body side mount to top of the shock body, distance between upper spring perch to top of shock body, distance between upper and lower spring perches. Mount widths and fastener size. This is enough information for them to make up dampers for you. You choose how much adjustability you want: rebound only, double adjustable, three-way, or four-way. They can do remote reservoir, double adjustables, with mounting bushings very easily, this is what I recommend. The tough part is determining damper forces and characteristics like digressive valving and how much, where to place the 'knee' of the response curve, what wheel rates work well for this chassis and your type of driving, etc. I'm not surprised that they don't recommend a spring rate for you, they don't have the depth of knowledge required to make that decision. What's you goal? What's your budget? How will you drive the car, street, track? What don't you like now with the Koni's? These are all questions a damper supplier will need to help you, otherwise your on your own for damper response and wheel rate development. |

I am looking for somebody besides Mark (as I have already asked him and he has helped me greatly) who has purchased a set of ohlin shocks for a 308qv. I would like to know where they purchased their shocks and what model ohlins they purchased , springs rates etc. The problem is that ohlin does not have a direct listing for the 308. If I can collect information from a few different people/ sources I should be able to make a more intelligent decision. In my case I would need all the help I can get. Thanks--in advance---Dave |
