Have you contacted Jeff Howe at Ferrari UK. They are showing these nuts on their website for about $40 each. I know Jeff will ship them to you without problems. Eamil him at [email protected] |

Henry -- If you can find a way to buy a few retail, I believe this company: http://www.whittet-higgins.com might be another alternative for you (but I too would try T.Rutlands and/or Kurt White at ferraribooks.com first before resorting to the extra hassle). |

Henry, A couple of thoughts... Those nuts are made of a pretty high-grade steel... Torque values are fairly high... Can't remember if there is enough clearance for a conventional hex socket, if the new nut were hex in design... And, I have a complete set of those factory special sockets...so, I tend to stick with OE. David |

David: I was thinking of making these with a hex nut design.......no need then to machine a special wrench. What do you think? |

Henry, Yes..these nuts do have applications on other Ferrari models. Before you spend the time making them, give Rutland's and Algar a call. I rebuilt my tranfer case last summer...and the nuts were nowhere near those prices. With Rutland's, it best to give them the diameter/thread pitch and specify LH or RH thread...as there are many variations of these nuts. Regards, David |

I meant to say nuts, not bolts, in the title. While removing the clutch in my Boxer, for replacement, I took off the two ring nuts holding the top and lower gears, in the transfer case outside the clutch cover.......I know, I didn't have to do that.....it did allow me to inspect everything though. However, the nuts came off but they where ruined. Dealer wants about $150 for the big one and $60 for the small one!!!!!!!!! I have decided to machine my own........anyone interested in a set? These should fit other cars, but I am not sure.
