Tony - I recently installed a Tubi on my 246GT. I was skeptical about performance increase, but it is unambiguous. I definitely feel more power with the Tubi. The sound is great, but I do not wish to take a long road trip. It is a bit uncomfortable (too loud) after a while. But it sure does sound great, and it did add horsepower.

FWIW
I have a 2/6/87 signed postcard from Enzo Ferrari which closes:

'...cordiali saluti'

To me, Italian almost always sounds better than most any other language no matter what is said :-)

Tony,

Its indeed a rather formal greeting. Still lots of Ferrari officials here in Germany use it. Since cordialissimi seems to be a "superlative" you can easily see that it is a bit extravagant. Germans would never use this as a greeting formula but italians and especially french people like this "complicated" (Sorry could not find a better word) or chi-chi expressions! :-)

Con saluti cordialissimi,
Jens Haller

P.S. You can as well say: Con saluti cordiali which is rather normal and means "With friendly greetings" and not "With friendliest greetings"

anyone have experience or expectations on what a Tubi would do for a 246GT Dino? I am about to receive a 1972 and the exhaust system has been recommended to be replaced within a year. I hear ANSA is coming out with one for the Dino by EOY, but Tubi has them in stock now.

What's your opinion? (Tubi are also pretty pricey!).

btw, the 'con saluti cordialissimi' is a pretty formal way to say 'Best Regards'. In all my dealings with family and business in Italy, I have never seen anyone sign a letter with this phrase. In fact Italians are very terse in email.

'Con saluti cordialissimi'...Very poetic! I'll have to use that one in a few letters to my Euro customers:-)

Peter,
It means "With friendliest greetings" (?!)
:-)

Frank,
I agree with you that the most power gain with my setup is gained through the test pipes. My faint guess would be:
Test pipes: 15hp
Tubi exhaust: max.10hp
K&N air filters: around 5hp
Just a guess without a proof of course!

Con saluti cordialissimi,
Jens Haller

P.S. I guess its just the mix which does it for me:
Hand welded, hand polished
slight power gain
superb sound
lifelong guaranty

Jens, I suspect that most of that hp increase is due to the test pipes and not the Tubi. I had test pipes on my 328, TR and 348 and noticed a large seat-of-paints power increase even with stock pipes.

Jens...'Con saluti cordialissimi'...I think I get this (it sounds nice), but in English please?

Peter,

Off course its mainly a sound thing but Tubi exhausts also improve the hp output a bit.
I have installed the Tubi exhaust togehter with Tubi test pipes and some K&N. This improved the performance considerably and noticeably. Gain was 30hp from 300 to 330 according to Dyno.
Not bad for the 348 although I have heard that gains with other Ferraris are smaller due to poorly designed airbox and exhausts of the 348.
I cant complain and surely wouldnt have changed if this would only be a sound improvement.

Why does it seem that every post I read about exhaust systems on this forum, the focus always seems to be about the sound and not on the performance? Do we forget the technical aspects of a tuned exhaust and how a properly made exhaust will benefit the performance of our cars? With the technical level of members on this forum, I scratch my head sometimes on this topic!..Sound...Sound...Sound!!!
