Randy - get some Limited Slip Differential additive (I got mine at Dodge - I believe it was MOPAR or something like that). Add it to the transmission fluid through the filler side Allen plug. Drive the car for a few days, and you should see an improvement. If this does not work, then change to Mobil 1 gear oil and again add the LSD additive. That will definitely work. I found that simply adding the LSD additive did the job.

you know what, the more that I am paying attention to the car, I have noticed that the car only, "hops" when I have the steering wheel turned.

after talking with a ferrari specialist, he thinks its the posi traction? He recomended I change the differential fluid.

My quiestion is, if this doesnt work what options do i have???

so it may be the clutch engagement and not the clutch. i assume this is good news, right?

Question then, how can i adjust the clutch to grab better in 1st gear???

Randy - the limited slip differential may be the culprit. Are you taking off straight, or does this occur with the steering wheel slightly turned, as when going around a corner? The limited slip differential clutch plates are prone to "stick" and can be resolved by adding a L.S.D. oil additive (purchased at a Dodge dealer). Mine was doing this, and it felt more like a deep rumble or chatter when going around turns. The other possibility, the bad news, is that the transmission case where the axels bolt on (differential case) is known to fail (crack). Take it to someone who has experience.

Randy, Bruce is right. Get rid of the drivers side floor mat. Or do what I did and cut out a much larger area for the accelerator pedal to move in. Sounds like a bad clutch or flywheel. What is the mileage on the car? Also, where does the clutch pedal engage in relation to the clutch pedal position? High, low, etc.? pd

From what I'm understanding it sounds like clutch chatter

like i stated, it it hops intermittantly. The car may be warm for 30 minutes of driving, and when i pull out from a stop light, it really hops???

Bruce is correct. You can also screw the mat to the floor.

Friends-

I just bought my 1987 testarossa and i have a question. when i let the clutch out, in 1st gear only, I periodically get a feeling like the car is missing, hopping or someting along those lines.

Any thoughts? what could this be??? Thanks!

Randy
