Yes, my speakers do have a metal protective mesh under the custom-dyed speaker cloth. They were done locally by Traffic Jams (www.TrafficJams.com) owner Ron Southworth.

Peter, we specialize in carbon fiber fabrication work, but we have sheet metal fabrication equipment on hand at the shop. We can cut perforated metal or plastic to your specifications. This will be easy if the shape is 2-dimensional - a little trickier if the pattern is 3-d, but still entirely doable. Chris [email protected] |

You can simply fit a melamine or MDF frame. Use a piece of paper cut to fit the area as a template. Cut the inside out of the shape, leaving a frame. Spray paint the frame flat black. Then glue grill cloth on by spraying the back and stretching the cloth over the front. Hold until it glues. Alternatively you can staple it on if the frame is thick enough. You can hold it on with velcro, or silicone. |

I'm going through the same process trying to figure out how to accommodate an MB Quart 6" biaxial speaker. I think I will be fabricating a pod that will fit against the quadrilateral impression on the door. I just have to puzzle it through. I don't want to cut the door, and the bugger will not fit. I will try to use the stock Quart grill, but I'm not sure |

Have you considered grill cloth which could be glued to back of panel. If want something cool try asking Rob of www.ultimatepedals.com and maybe he could fabricate something out of aluminum. Kind of a crazy idea, but you never know. |

Peter, Is this on your 77 308? Our speaker grills are weird--they attach on over the leather complete with puncture holes for the screws in the leather... We would be looking for the quadrilateral-like hard frame with a Mike Charness-style QV felt cloth stretch in between, I think... Is this what we're talking about?

I need a unique shape for a speaker grill, metal mesh. Any sources out there if I send them the patern? |
