I did the same and went back with the latest OEM guides.

I've heard the pros-and-cons of both. In short, the OEM guides, although soft, expand and contract (from the heat) at the same rate as the aluminum head, so the guides will always stay in place. The aftermarket types, will last much longer but expand and contract at different rates, which may cause the guide to work loose.

This has happened with other high-performance engines that I know of (my buddy's Datsun 510), with the Ferrari...? I put OEM guides in mine.

Bernie, I'm sure that some of the guys have had experience with what you are asking about valve guides. I have always thought the bronze guides were the best but there seems to be a different one recommended now. Nick Scianna does head rebuilding on the V/8 Ferrari engines. He has a particular type of guide he recommends. You might want to give him a call. 360-332-7779

Does anyone know if there is a difference in longevity between the use of OEM valve guides and aftermarket silicon-bronze guides? The material used for the OEM guide looks quite different than that of the aftermaket guide. (328/308)
thank you
