I've been considering the Nakamichi in dash single din sized cd changer/head unit as well. I've read mixed things about them on various car audio BB's. However I have no first hand experience with them nor have I spoken to anyone who has used one in person. Some people seem to love them, others have had multiple problems with them. YMMV |

I think any time you work on the car, the battery should be disconnected. Especially working with equipment like this. Be safe than sorry. |

thanks David, I was not going to add an amp, I am not looking for anything too crazy loud. I am thinking of keeping it simple, remove old alpine am/fm cassette and replace with new cd changer. Am I over simplifying it? Anything I need to worry about in terms of the fuse box? I plan on disconnecting the battery while I do it. As far as the speakers I was planning on going with MB quartz 6 1/2 installed behind the stock door grill and seperate tweeter in the tweeter cutout in the door. Any ideas on other issues to watch out for would be great? |

I have an '85 Mondial Cab. I suggest measuring the speakers you want carefully. Get the best you can. There are a lot of wires snaking all over the cabin. You should be able to use existing wiring. Wiring the unit won't be as challenging as mounting it properly. You might find it easier to work under the dash if you take the seats out. Four allen bolts each and they are out. Are you going to add an amplifier? If you want to drown out wind and engine noise, it's an important component. Mine is mounted in front of the spare, behind/on the radiator splash apron. I have to remove the amp. to get the spare out, so it's mounted with wing nuts. You have to drill through the fire wall, so line the hole so that the wires aren't damaged over time. You're smart to go for the in-dash CD. Mine is in the trunk and you would never think it took up much space until you take an overnight trip. |

Anyone put a nakamichi CD bank/receiver in a ferrari. These units are great because they don't require the changer to be in the trunk. It all fits in the normal slot. I am thinking of doing the install with new speakers myself. Any items to watch out for?? |
