Mark,
First check the floor mat has not shifted forward and is pushing against accelerator pedal; common affliction. Otherwise, DGS's diagnosis could be plausible, that your aux air valve has stuck open, causing you to be perpetually on "cold idle" circuit. But, I have had two non Ferraris have the aux air valve fail (easy to replace yourself), and the both failed in the closed position. But, I guess they could fail either way...

The idle air set screw is on the left of the air meter, just beneath the aft engine brace. This set screw determines how much air by-passes the throttle plate, setting the warm idle.

For the cold idle, the "aux air valve" adds additional air to the air bypassing the throttle plate. The aux air valve is open when cold, and is electrically heated off the fuel pump circuit so the bimetal strip inside will shut off the aux air after a while, returning the car to the warm idle setting. On the 328, the aux air valve is mounted on the bottom of the coolent reservoir tank -- so if the electrical element isn't working, the hot coolent can heat up the bimetal strip. (Another slick design detail typical of Ferraris.)

If your idle is the same, hot and cold, I'd suspect that the aux air valve isn't working. The book I have on Bosch CIS recommends shining a flashlight through the air opening of the aux air valve to see whether it's working.

Of course, another possibility is that there's an air leak in one of the idle air hoses.

If this problem started with work on the engine, then first thing would be to check that you have all the hose connections on the manifold plenum -- make sure nothing got knocked loose.

Just today while driving after fixing a gas leak you all helped me fix, my car would not come back down to its normal idle of 1000 rpm when I came to a stop.

The car was warm and running a great as normal, except for the idle of course.

Wondering if anyone has experienced the problem or knows how to fix it.

thanks!
