Mike, check Forza June 1999, issue #17. The only reference made to this was that the bellhousing is made from magnesium, which corodes rapidly. The fix is to use the F40 bellhousing (made from aluminum).

I have a 288 GTO that I maintain, and I have heard about a problem with the coating on the bellhousing not being the correct one, this leading to a chemical reaction with the fluid used in the clutch release bearing. can anyone enlighten me of someone who will recoat the bellhousing for me. if someone could email me at [email protected], it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks much..Mike.
